- أنواعه: مر حجازي، مر بطارخ إفريقي .

- أماكن وجوده: ينبت في اليمن، عمان، الصومال، وشمال إفريقيا.


- أوصافه :

المر عبارة عن خليط متجانس من مواد راتنجية وصموغ وزيت طيار تفرزها سيقان نبات البيلسان، والطريقة لاستخراج المر من السيقان هو تجريح ساق الشجرة فتخرج منه هذه العصارة المعروفة بالمر. النوع الجيد هو الذي يبدو شكله شفافاً نظيفاً ذا لون بني فاتح، أما النوع الرديء فهو الذي يدخل فيه ألوان بنية أو سوداء ويبدو كأن فيه رمال.

المرة عبارة عن خليط متجانس من ثلاث مواد هي الزيت الطيار والصمغ وراتنج وهي توجد في سيقان نبات على هيئة شجرة تسمى علمياً باسم COMMEFORA MOLMOL.

وأما اسمها التجاري والمتعارف عليه في غير بلادنا فهو MYRRH، والمر عادة يستحصل عليه من جذوع أشجار المر وذلك بخدش أو بجرح الجذوع بفئسان فتخرج مادة المر، وتجمع من جذع الشجرة بعد أن يتجمد عليه، وهذا هو النوع النقي، ولا يحتوي على معدن الرصاص. لكن أحياناً يسيل المر حتى يصل الأرض والأرض أحياناً تكون غنية بمعدن الرصاص فإذا حصل أن الرمل أو الأرض الذي ينمو فيه شجر المر فيه رصاص فإن المر إذا سال إلى الأرض فإنه يتلوث بمادة الرصاص وعليه يجب عدم جمع المر الذي يوجد فوق الرمل تحت شجرة المر ويجمع فقط النوع الذي على جذع الشجرة، أما فوائد المر فهو مطهر قوي وقاتل لكثير من أنواع البكتريا ومقوي معدي ويستخدم في علاج الجروح المتعفنة ويؤخذ داخلياً ولكن بحذر ويجب عدم الإكثار منه لأنه يسبب بعض المشاكل في القولون.


- طرق استعماله :

* لحالات النزلات الشعبية، والسعال المزمن، وضيق التنفس، وتنبيه الأغشية المخاطية، والتهاب المثانة، و عسر الطمث، وقروح المعدة، والأمعاء: يستخدم مغلي المر بمعدل 2-3 أكواب يومياً.

* لصفاء الصوت، وإزالة البحة ، يمكن أخذه عن طريق المص .

* لتطهير الجروح ، وتقرحات الجلد ، و السجحات ، والبثور : يستخدم مسحوق المر مخلوطاً مع العسل كدهان موضعي ، أو على مستحلب (منقوع) تغسل به الأماكن المصابة .

* حالات إدماء اللثة وتقرحها، والتهاب الحنجرة : يستخدم المر في عمل غرغرة للفم .

* لعلاج القوباء :يستخدم المر مخلوطاً مع الخل كدهان موضعي .

* تقوية المعدة ، وحالان انقطاع الطمث : يستخدم المسحوق أو المستحلب (المنقوع).

* لأوجاع الروماتيزم ، والتواء المفاصل ، والقروح ، والحروق ، والالتهابات الجلدية :يستخدم مسحوق المر مخلوطاً مع زيت الزيتون كدهان موضعي.

* لمنع رائحة العرق : يخلط مسحوق المر مع مسحوق الشب الأبيض ويوضع تحت الإبط .

* كما يمكن أخذ المر لمعالجة فقر الدم ، والتهاب المثانة ، وطرد الغازات ، وفتح الشهية ، وتسكين المغص ، وتسكين الآلام عموماً .

* ويستعمل زيت المر خارجياً على الجروح والتقرحات المزمنة ، أو مدهوناً للبواسير .

* وللمر خاصية هامة في كونه قاتل للجراثيم والميكروبات ولذا يستخدم في تطهير الجروح وتقرحات الجلد .


- الأعداد والجرعات المناسبة:

- المنقوع:

ينقع المر في الماء المغلي بمعدل ملعقتين لكل لتر من الماء لبضع دقائق، ثم يصفى هذا المنقوع ويؤخذ منه ملعقة، خمس أو ست مرات في اليوم .

- الغرغرة : 

يمزج ملء ملعقة من مسحوق المر مع ملء ملعقة من حمض البوريك ، ثم يضاف المزيج إلى حوالي لترين من الماء المغلي ، ثم يترك نصف ساعة ، بعدها يصفى ليكون جاهزاً للاستعمال ثلاث مرات يومياً .

- الزيت :

يوضع نصف كيلو من المر في برطمان ثم يغمر بزيت دوار الشمس أو زيت اللوز ثم يغلق البرطمان بإحكام ، ويترك في الشمس مدة أسبوعين أو ثلاثة أسابيع ، ثم يصفى الزيت ، ويستعمل دهاناً مرتين في اليوم .

- البرشامات :

تؤخذ برشامات فارغة حجم 200 ملغ ، وتملأ بمسحوق المر ، ثم تؤخذ ثلاث حبات يومياً .


- المحاذير والأضرار :

* يجب عدم استعمال المر أثناء فترة الحمل لأنه منشط للرحم .

* يؤخذ من المر ما كان حديثاً خفيفاً ، ولونه بين الأمر والبني ، أما الأسود منه فهو ضار ولا خير فيه .


- قالوا عنه :

- قال عنه ابن سينا :

" مفتح محلل للريح ، ويقع في الأدوية الكبار لكثرة منافعه ، ويمنع التعفن حتى أنه يمسك الميت ويحفظه عن التغير والنتن".

- وقال ابن البيطار :

" يخلط في الأدوية التي يشربها من به السعال القديم والربو القديم ، ولا يحدث في قصبة الرئة خشونة كما تفعل أشياء أخرى ، وصار بعض الناس يخلطه مع أدوية تشرب لخشونة قصبة الرئة خاصة ".

- وقال الرازي :

" ينفع لأوجاع الكلى والمثانة ويذهب نفخ المعدة ، والمغص ، ووجع الأرحام ،والمفاصل ، وينفع من السموم ويخرج الديدان ، ويذهب ورم الطحال ، ويحلل الأورام "

- وقال داود الأنطاكي :
